On December 12, the Mayor lit the first Chanukah candle at Beit Ha Aiver (House for the Visually Impaired) in Be'er-Sheva, in recognition of those with special needs, and the "Shvil Ha'Or" (Path of Light), the social relay race from Eilat to Kiryat Shemona.
This is a race organized by the Israel Electric Corporation, together with social organizations and local authorities, which runs every day for a different social goal. In Be'er-Sheva, the race was dedicated to the special needs populations.
The event was held in the presence of Mayor Ruvik Danilovich, VP of Marketing and Regulation at the Electric Company Oren Helman, Southern District Director of the Electric Company, Dr. Kobi Yahav, and Be'er-Sheva District Director Haim Levy.
Ruvik Danilovich, Mayor of Be'er-Sheva related: "Light symbolizes giving, good and positivity.
The Electric Company provides a great deal of light to all of us. We thank the Electric Company and its employees for the amazing connection with the city and its residents - with assistance to the community and hard work around the clock, and in times of emergency".
Oren Helman, related: "The Electric Company works throughout the year to promote the values of social equality, the periphery (socio-economic) and central Israel, in all parts of Israeli society. Chanukah is an opportunity for us to bring the light to the places that need it. A happy holiday for all of Israel".
