Girit Preschool in Be'er-Sheva is a unique facility - children's stories and literature is the area that is particularly prominent, and it is expressed in a variety of means of significant learning experiences therein.
This year, the kindergarten has a boy learning there that has allergies to eggs, nuts, almonds, and peanuts, and the other children are not allowed to bring foods that carry these allergens into the preschool.
As a gesture to the child, the children, together with their teacher, Limor Yosefi, conducted activities and discussions on the subject, and this resulted in an amazing initiative and the publication of a book, "A Special Child", to be distributed to all kindergarten children in Be'er-Sheva. An initiative that expresses values such as the ability to give up, begin, and to accept the other, demonstrating empathy, patience, and concern for the child's health.
Deputy Mayor of Be'er-Sheva Dr. Heftsi Zohar noted that this is an important and inspiring initiative that expresses an anchor in education for values, education for the love of books, and above all, education for love of humankind.
Zohar added, "John Dewey once said that the role of education is not to prepare for life, education is life itself," and we have seen how the children of the kindergarten experience authentic learning in love and faith in every sense.
The exciting initiative of kindergarten children and the kindergarten teacher was shared by the Municipal Department of Education, Culture, and Sports, the Ministry of Education and the Municipal Library.
