Ceremony of Farm for Agricultural Education and Environmental Sciences

Ceremony of Farm for Agricultural Education and Environmental Sciences in Be'er-Sheva
Publish Date: 3/6/2018

The impressive ceremony for the naming of the Moshe Danon (RIP) Farm for Agriculture Education and Environmental Sciences took place on (Sunday, February 25) in Kiryat Bats, near the technical school in Be'er-Sheva.

Moshe Danon ran the farm for agricultural education for 20 years, initiated the first "plowing and sowing" project in Israel, was a teacher and educator for agriculture and nature in schools throughout the city.

The event took place in the presence of many public figures, department heads in the municipality, representatives of the Ministry of Education, the director of the farm, teachers, students, and members of the Danon family.

The farm for agricultural education and environmental sciences serves as an urban knowledge center for advanced agriculture in teaching and experimentation, and research laboratories.

The farm, which is one of the city's 'excellence' centers, is attended by students from various educational institutions in the region, from a wide range of ages, from elementary school through 12th grade.

The educational staff at the farm includes teachers who specialize in various aspects of agriculture, the environment, and a healthy way of life.

In addition to the classrooms, the farm has a variety of technological agricultural equipment, and means for professional agricultural crops, which allow students a variety of activities in the various agricultural sciences.

The students learn in different learning environments: in the classroom, in the vegetable garden, landscaping, in the greenhouses where there is a scientific research incubator, with medicinal plants, in the animals' corner, and, in learning centers dealing with environmental issues.

The farm offers a holistic green environment where students grow vegetables, herbs, flowers, house plants, fruit trees, and animals. The students learn, work and experience a meaningful, creative and varied experience that is used to develop a healthy lifestyle.
