Memorial Ceremonies Held for the 101st Anniversary of the Liberation of Be'er-

Memorial Ceremonies Held for the 101st Anniversary of the Liberation of Be'er-
Publish Date: 11/5/2018
On the 31st of October, ceremonies were held across different locations around the city of Be'er-Sheva to commemorate its liberation. Ceremonies were held at the British Cemetery, the Turkish Soldiers' Memorial on Tuviyahu St., and, at the Park of the Australian Soldier.

Many public figures attended the events including ambassadors and diplomatic representatives from Australia, New Zealand, and Turkey.

The ANZAC was a military force of Australian and New Zealand soldiers who fought in the Middle East during World War I, and, among other things, liberated the city of Be'er-Sheva from Turkish rule. There are a number of sites that commemorate the ANZAC throughout the city including the cemetery where the heroes of the battle for Be'er Sheva were laid to rest. The cemetery and the newly established ANZAC Memorial Centre are important and exciting sites for all Australians, New Zealanders and tourists from the British Kingdom.
