On Friday, March 16th, an open house day was held at the Be'er-Sheva Conservatory of Music. During the day the participants were exposed to and experienced the activities of the conservatory.
The conservatory teachers offered free trial lessons with a variety of instruments: piano/cello/violin/viola/double bass/guitar/oboe/trumpet/voice development. In addition, the participants enjoyed rehearsals of the mandolin and wind instrument orchestras.
10 students were awarded full tuition on selected instruments including the French horn, viola, double bass, bassoon, oboe, and trumpet.
The Municipal Conservatory of Music leads the Center for Excellence in Music. The Center works on behalf of the Be'er-Sheva Municipality and in collaboration with the Ministry of Education and the Ministry for the Development of the Negev and the Galilee, to expose all the city's children to music in general and playing instruments in particular. The children's exposure to the musical world from an early age enriches their environment, promotes and empowers their personal and social abilities, develops the motor, emotional, social and ethical skills, and provides life skills, learning and stage presence. In addition, exposure and depth in the musical world develop the future musicians and music consumers, who spearhead an enlightened cultural society. In light of this, the Center's programs are designed to locate those talented children and cultivate the skills required to realize their personal musical potential, so that they will eventually become the best musicians to lead the Israeli cultural world.
It should be noted that the Be'er-Sheva Conservatory of Music has been carrying the banner of excellence education for 50 years. Alongside individual lessons on a wide variety of instruments, students combine work with ensembles, orchestras, music theory and music, and enjoy a wide range of skills acquired through music for all aspects of life. The students play a variety of performances, conferences, competitions, and collaborations with public and community organizations, enjoy seminars, subsidized subscription to the Israeli Symphony of Be'er-Sheva, master classes, recitals and more.
