The "Center for Genealogical Research" was inaugurated in the Municipal Library

The "Center for Genealogical (Family Roots) Research" was recently inaugurated at the main branch of the Municipal Library in Be'er-Sheva. The new center includes a collection of research books donated mainly by The Israel Genealogical Society, through Dr. Ya'akov Bayer, chairman of the Society's southern branch.

Among the participants at the inauguration event were Vice Mayor of Be'er-Sheva and holder of the Education portfolio Dr. Heftsi Zohar and head of the Municipality's Education Administration Ms. Zehava Harel, head of culture and art for the Municipality Mr. Ori Yinon, Director of the Municipal Libraries Ms. Yorit Morag, Head Librarian Ms. Ilanit Yehuda, the representative of the Genealogical Society, chairman of the southern branch Dr. Ya'akov Bayer, and distinguished guests from the community.

The center will promote unique collaborations between academia and the educational system and the general community. In addition, special programs for family genealogical research will be made available and consultation services will be provided. The dates will be posted on the Library's website. At the same time, the Municipal Library will hold lectures and meetings for the public, on topics connected to the field.
